Our verdict
The RG557 is a big step up for Anbernic's Android line, pairing the capable MediaTek Dimensity 8300 with a vivid 5.48-inch 1080p AMOLED, Hall effect controls, Wi-Fi 6E and a large 5500mAh battery. It comfortably runs PS2, PSP and most GameCube titles, with progress on 3DS, Wii and Switch. MediaTek chips occasionally need emulator tuning and the panel is 60Hz, but it is the most powerful and best-screened Android handheld Anbernic has made.
